Mang’anda died shortly at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
He once served as Dean of Education and Media Studies at the then Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi, now the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).
At the peak of his career, Mang’anda once served as Presidential Press Secretary under Dr Bakili Muluzi.
In June 2013 he was appointed acting Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Information and Civic Education.
The seasoned journalist also held the post of Director of Information in the same ministry some years ago.
Details of his funeral are yet to be established.
